About Rutherford Works

Handmade in the North East. Made for your home.

I’m Dave, the maker behind Rutherford Works. From my workshop in Stockton-on-Tees, in the North East of England, I make shelves and furniture with individual character and everyday life in mind.

A place for family photographs. A bench for Sunday breakfast. A dining table that becomes the heart of your home. I believe practical pieces should feel special, and the timber itself is where that starts.

Every board brings its own grain, knots and markings. I shape and finish each piece individually, working with those details to make something that belongs to your space. Choose clean flat edges or a flowing, individually shaped live edge, with colour from Littlefair’s wood dyes and carefully applied protective oil.

A piece with your name on it

The collection includes shelves, breakfast bars, dining tables and benches. For a different size, finish or a bespoke timber and resin project, tell me what you have in mind. We can discuss the possibilities before you order.

Handmade, not mass-produced.

When you enquire about a bespoke piece, you speak to the maker. Tell me about the room, the dimensions and what you want the furniture to do. We can discuss the timber, finish and practical details before agreeing your order.
